As I turn to the last page of my book tonight, I can’t help but wonder how someone can create something so painfully heart whelming yet mesmerizingly beautiful and leave it open for the world to see, read and treasure. I know, this story is going to haunt me for several nights to come and leave me thinking for years, but the book is every bit worth it.
I am not a fan of tragic romances even then I decided to read this one and find out what the hype was all about. Today, The Fault in our Stars by John Green is a part of my most treasured book collections and I can’t help but be thankful to the person who persuaded me in reading it.
This particular poem from the book puts a smile on my face every time I read it. And that is the reason I wish to share it with all my readers. I hope you too will like, love and treasure it.
“Let us go then, you and I,
When the evening is spread out against the sky
Like a patient etherized upon a table.
Let us go, through certain half-deserted streets,
The muttering retreats
Of restless nights in one-night cheap hotels
And sawdust restaurants with oyster shells:
Streets that follow like a tedious argument
Of insidious intent
To lead you to an overwhelming question…
Oh, do not ask, “What is it?”
Let us go and make our visit.
We have lingered in the chambers of the sea
By sea-girls wreathed with seaweed red and brown
Till human voices wake us, and we drown.”
